The history of Busy Bees begins 41 years ago, with our own search for the right nursery.
We wanted to give our children the best start in life, which to us meant better, more exciting care, stimulating environments, and lots of opportunities for play, interaction and development, at their own pace and in their own space. We couldn't find a nursery that offered everything we wanted. So, we decided to found it ourselves in 1983 and opened The Rocklands in Lichfield, Staffordshire a year later.
In that very first Busy Bees nursery, we created a safe and enriching home-from-home environment filled with opportunities to learn. We recruited passionate staff with boundless enthusiasm for their work and a never-ending commitment to the children. It was a place where children's emotional needs were met, their interests were nurtured, and their individuality was respected, which made it somewhere parents loved too.
The Rocklands formed the blueprint for all of the hundreds of nurseries we run today. Whether it's a nursery in the United Kingdom, Ireland, North America, Asia, or beyond, the Busy Bees name has come to represent the same ideals and values that made our very first venture so special.
Over the past few decades I have been lucky to work with some amazing people to provide children around the world with exceptional care. I truly believe that our childcare can be the path to a brilliant future. I hope that, just like we did for my own family 39 years ago, we can give your children the best start in life too.

November 7, 2019 at 12:00 amMy son has been attending the nursery since September 2018 and he has become the happiest and most confident boy. The staff is very caring, attentive to the children’s individual needs, they plan fun and engaging activities every day, are so welcoming in the morning and evening. He has brought home some beautiful paintings. The nursery has also been just refurbished and includes brand-new Montessori toys and design which is ideal for children’s development. I love that nursery, my son feels safe there and am so glad he is attending it. Plus it’s far from a high street so it’s much less polluted than any nursery in West London which is the number one reason to send your baby there!

September 1, 2020 at 12:00 amMy son started in Busy Bees North Chiswick in January 2020, the nursery is run by a professional team who understand the importance of building a strong relationship between me and my son. They have paid special attention to my requirements and met my child’s needs. The nursery is warm and welcoming and are full of loving and caring staff, they have plenty of room of my son too develop and learn, they provide well-balanced meals. This is an all-round lovely nursery 5 stars from me and my son, would highly recommend to anyone who is looking too put their child in a nursery I’m a very happy mummy.

November 10, 2020 at 12:00 amMy child started in Jan 2020. The nursery communicated a lot over lockdown. My little girl is back and is really happy! The staff are lovely and kind. I like it there and think it is a lovely nursery.

November 17, 2020 at 12:00 amThe building and facilities are brand new. The staff is very friendly. Our son is very happy to go there. The toddlers are doing outdoor activities. We are missing some photos of the activities carried out, but this is about to change with the implementation of a new app to allow the staff to share pictures with the parents. We recommend the nursery.

Children do a lot of new daily activities both indoors and outdoors in the private garden.

November 24, 2022 at 12:00 amMy daughter attends Busy Bees every afternoon using her 15 hours a week funding from the government. My daughter settled in right away when she started and loves her afternoons. It is a happy, safe and caring environment and I fully trust the staff. The food is healthy and tasty, and she gets fed twice in the afternoon! I have been really impressed by the attentiveness of the staff and although the manager has not been there long, she is doing a fantastic job of keeping high standards throughout yet maintaining a friendly, personal atmosphere in the nursery. I would highly recommend this nursery.

My daughter absolutely loves it, the teachers are genuinely caring and nurturing. My daughter has progressed so much and misses it in the holidays! Would definitely recommend.

December 1, 2022 at 12:00 amFirst I felt that the school was very safe with the friendly staff. Special thanks to supportive and understanding two staff members in particular who worked with me and the child on separation anxiety. I like that it’s an educational-based facility with a small ratio of children and exposes your child to different aspects of learning through sensory and play. The classrooms are clean and maintained during the day. Although I wish there was an indoor shoes policy in place. Playground is spacious and secure which is really nice. They set up a splash pool for children attending during summer’s heatwave. Age groups are separated most days across 2 floors in beautifully set up rooms (We miss the staff member who worked on that with her team). All my questions or requests are always kindly answered. Under the new director we are seeing less staff rotation. Good communication face to face and through using an app. Opened 51 weeks a year 8.00 – 18.00, food is provided, nutritious and delicious thanks to Chef.

January 13, 2023 at 12:00 amMy son attended this nursery for one and a half months. We then, unfortunately, had to move. However, the time he spent there was wonderful, the staff were so lovely with him, he really had a good time there and I saw a developmental leap for him. He was playing independently a lot more and he learnt to sleep in different environments, which he hadn’t until that point, he is a fussy sleeper and we were pleasantly surprised when he started taking naps there. I loved the rooms, so spacious and lots of lovely activities. Being in there during the settling-in sessions was really nice as I got to see what they did and they do a lot! The app is so great in updating you constantly on what your child is doing and it is great to see photos of your child during the day. I always found the space to be clean and food smells delicious. The staff were really friendly. The director is very nice and a great communicator. Thank you to five members of staff in particular. Highly recommend this nursery.

I really appreciate their fun and academic activities which include plenty of sensory activities as well as age-appropriate content to help engage a growing and curious mind. My son always talks about the fun he’s had and I see progress in his skills as a result. They have an outdoor space that is used (weather permitting) every day with freshly cooked meals on-site. The staff are caring and attentive – questions are answered quickly, time and care is taken in getting to know your child including how to comfort them if they are distressed or anything relating to their preferences to ensure they are comfortable. The Children all seem happy and I’m particularly grateful for the adjustments made to support my son’s needs including dietary requirements and gross motor skills. Lastly, they are open from 8-6pm and closed only over Christmas. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to any of my friends.

January 19, 2023 at 12:00 amMy daughter goes to this nursery since May 2022. The staff have been really helpful during the settling-in period as it took a while because of her not being used to being with people outside of family. I am really happy with the progress she has made so far, she is being more friendly with other children in general and she has learnt a lot. She comes home very happy and likes to share all the activities she has done during the day. I receive updates on her during the day through an app and it reassures me that she is doing well, whether she has eaten and what. The staff are amazing, and the management team very helpful.

January 20, 2023 at 12:00 amWonderful nursery run by really loving and professional people. I brought my daughter to this nursery when she was only 10 months old. I was devastated leaving her but the management and the key people looking after her have been so caring and supportive and she has settled in well. I feel like I can leave her and trust she will receive the best care. I really recommend this nursery, they are very accommodating and do everything they can to make things work if I need extra days. Highly recommend!

January 24, 2023 at 12:00 amVery happy with the setting and staff. They have made every effort with my son to make him feel comfortable, safe and happy. He comes home every day saying ‘I love to be at busy bees’. Lots of activities to stimulate the children and promote their development. I have peace of mind when I drop him off each day that he will be looked after and cared for, which to me is very important.

My daughter really loves to go to nursery every day so that says enough for me to be confident about putting her there all day long!
The staff are careful with questions and comments so that is a good point as well.

One issue is the doorbell. It’s a bit frustrating waiting for someone to come from the kid’s rooms to open for us.
I would love to take this opportunity to thank the assistant centre director who’s always been there for help.
