Wee Gems Corstorphine Nursery

The amount of time they spend outside is excellent to hear and the daily updates we get when I collect my daughter is excellent to get an understanding of how they have been that day. The Wee Gems is an outstanding childcare centre they care, time and thought they took to make sure my daughter who is under 1 was settled was remarkable.

Staff are very welcoming and encourage kids to explore their interests. My son started coming here when he was 2.7 years old and soon will be going off to Primary 1, but no doubt, this is going to be his favourite place.

I truly believe the team care about her physical, mental, social development.

When we arrive each day, she’s greeted with smiles and when I pick her up, the team have plenty examples of what she has played with or done that day, as well as sleep and food updates!

The outside playtime area is lovely and I am a real advocate for outside messy playtime regardless of the weather so this is excellent.

Most importantly, my little one is cheerful and I know she is well looked after. My little one joined the childcare centre in March 2019 and I am thrilled with the level of care she is given.

My daughter enjoys it a lot and every time I ask her, do you want to go to childcare centre, she says, yes. She eats well in childcare centre, we see a lot of growth in her, singing rhymes, painting, discovering her colours and name etc. Good childcare centre with welcoming team.

She seems to be looked after very well as she is consistently excited to go to the childcare centre. It was a bit of a tough time since last year because of the pandemic but the childcare centre has consistently been proactive in providing necessary information from time to time. I hope we will get an opportunity to see inside the childcare centre, the setup and to have a sense for how the kids are spending their time on various activities. My daughter has been going to the childcare centre for the last 8 months.

She has a excellent bond with her key worker who takes time to gently stretch her in discovering. In general, the team do a excellent job tailoring activities to key points in the year, important development topics and also the kids’s own interests each day. (Her dietary requirements are also catered for happily.) She gets plenty of opportunity for outdoor physical playtime, enjoys dance classes (at a small additional cost) and regularly comes home with traces of paint on her! The childcare centre has also been effective, understanding, and patient dealing with the logistical and emotional difficulties of Covid over the last couple of years, for kids, carers, and team. Overall we’re very cheerful with Wee Gems. Although our pre-school daughter is often a little reluctant to say goodbye to Daddy at drop-off, she consistently comes home excited and cheerful about her day.

My daughter is in the baby room and seems to have a great enough bond with the carers and keyworker. I would like to understand more about possibilities of outdoor activities aside from the garden.
I would also like to see an improvement in the food quality ( less processed meats for instance).
I have seen an improvement on cleanliness and great parent updates both in journals, as well as management emails.
I would pose a question re the current room configuration, thinking that this may be done in a smarter way.
Above all my daughter has settled in quite nicely, the activities are stimulating and there is an open receptive mind regarding feedback. I’m generally pleased with the Nursery.

He has been going since he was 6 months and I wouldn’t send him anywhere else. The team are incredible and he adores them. Highly suggest this childcare centre to anyone. My son absolutely loves it at Wee Gems childcare centre.
