Description

Clifton Lodge Preparatory School for girls and boys is a friendly, academic and nurturing school, with a nursery for children from the age of three years.

Children join the Nursery from the age of 3 and are taught by a dedicated, qualified teacher and caring support teaching assistant in a homely classroom. The small class size with a maximum of 20 children, enables individual and personalised learning. Work is clearly differentiated with each child taught at the appropriate level for their ability. Pupils are introduced to learning through a mixture of adult and child led activities covering the EYFS expectations with a strong focus on reading. There is also plenty of Art and craft which develops creative flair.

French, Music and Sport lessons are taught by specialist teachers. The Nursery also provides plenty of free play to ensure all children thrive through learning to share and use their imagination.

Children can be dropped off from 8am and there is after-school provision each day until 6pm, as well as onsite holiday clubs.

The team have been inviting and welcoming which has enabled him to settle in well.
There was a noticeable improvement in his speech and understanding of words/sentences in the first term and I am confident he will continue to thrive here. My son joined the childcare centre in September 2017.

The school are extremely supportive and highly communicative with regards to his development. The acting head is fantastic and consistently welcomes the kids personally every morning. We are very pleased we choose this school. Our son is in childcare centre and is developing very well.

There is a real focus on discovering but a lot of time is also devoted to developing the kids emotionally and my son has become far more confident and resilient over the course of the school year. My son is in his final term at childcare centre and we could not be happier with the school.

The team are compassionate, experienced and expert. They create a enjoyable setting with a excellent range of opportunities for the kids and enjoyable activities. My son has settled in quickly despite him being very young in the academic year. His older brother also settled well a few years ago, so I am confident the childcare centre can take the credit. Fantastic place for kids to begin their journey towards school. The childcare centre is well integrated into the life of the school meaning the kids bond well with the older kids and quickly adapt to a school setting.

Great manners and kindness are the ethos of the school and you can certainly see it! Pupils hold open doors and educators greet pupils with a ‘great morning’ and a ‘great afternoon’ handshake every day. The Headmaster / Headmistress greet all pupils with a handshake at the school entrance every morning – my son loves this routine! Lunches are family style with their educators. A lot of thought and effort goes into preparing the food and menus. Clifton has a great allergy and no nut policy. The educators are well informed about managing allergies and avoiding allergens. This was very important to us knowing our kid was secure at school. Since starting at Clifton my son has thrived in all aspects of his development. He loves his educators and he loves discovering to read and write. Seeing my kid cheerful and growing in self‑assurance as he learns something new is incredible. My son loves going to school every day! We have been exceptionally pleased with Clifton Lodge School – Childcare centre.

It provides my son with a stimulating discovering setting. During his year in the childcare centre class, he has progressed rapidly in reading, writing and numerical skills as well as singing and dancing activities. The educators and school management are approachable. Parents are invited to be part of the school community with close involvement in the kid’s education. Kids are cheerful and well behaved. Clifton Lodge School is a small, nurturing and welcoming school.

The childcare centre teacher and teaching assistant are both so welcoming, compassionate and attentive. My daughter has started to write her name and form letters and numbers. She has become confident and enjoys going to childcare centre everyday, and she even asks if she can go to childcare centre at the weekend as well! She has learned so much being in a small classroom, with so many resources. The food at snack times and lunch are consistently enjoyed as well. The after-school care and clubs are a excellent addition for those who are working and need the extra wrap-around care. We are delighted with the school and are looking forward to a smooth transition into reception. We have been very impressed with the care and attention that my daughter receives at Clifton Lodge.

Over the year, we saw his self‑assurance and social interaction soar alongside his basic reading, writing and counting. He genuinely loved every day at “BIG SCHOOL”. We loved the small class size (12 max) which meant he consistently got the assistance, encouragement and attention he needed. It was the perfect start to his educational needs. Our son started in lower reception as he reached his 4th birthday.
