The nursery staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. My Son’s keyworker and the general staff in the baby room always take the time out to personally speak to and update me on my Son’s development and needs.

The facilities are amazing, inside AND outside and the general atmosphere is one which welcomes, energises and makes you feel as though have left your child in very capable hands.

We have been so pleased with Charters and would highly recommend it to others. The staff are all fantastic and really helped my son to settle in well. He has grown in confidence and made lots of developments since starting here. Really pleased with our decision to send him here!

I recommend this nursery thoroughly. My son has been supported from a nervous new starter to being confident, excited and ready to start school. The staff are all brilliant, taking time to ensure children are happy and listened to.

    What a wonderful nursery!
My daughter really struggled to settle into nursery life but with the support of all the team at Charters, she is becoming such a confident little girl and enjoying each day more and more.
I also found the settling in process highly stressful but the team made me feel like I had their support and never made me feel like a nuisance even after multiple calls from me to see how she is doing. 6 months in and I can honestly say I am so glad we were able to get a place at Charters and I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone looking for a nursery.

Our son has been going to Charters for 7 months and has enjoyed every moment. The staff there are friendly and create a warm and caring atmosphere with so many fun activities and chances for our son to learn and develop. They keep us updated with anything we need to know. I couldn’t recommend this nursery highly enough!

Myself and my husband are so happy that our daughter goes to Charters Nursery. She started there at 11 months old and settled in so well from the start. The staff are so friendly and you can see they love working with children just from my daughter’s reaction to them. She has recently moved up from the baby room into the toddler room and was sad to leave her usual carers but has settled in great once again with her new group. We were anxious about how she would be going back after lockdown but it was like she never left and that’s down to the staff and their friendly smiles and caring personalities. We cannot recommend it enough!

We have had a great experience with Charters Nursery. My eldest has been there since 1 and leaves the end of the month to go to reception. She has loved her time there. My youngest has been there 6 months and has settled so well. They both love going in every morning.

Our daughter is so lucky to be a part of this nursery. The staff, all of the staff are simply angels. They take care of each child in such a beautiful way. Right from the introductory rooms through to all of the activities and the onsite food. Our daughter is vegetarian and this was handled so well by the nursery and also without fuss. We visited five nurseries in total and when we visited here, we fell in love with it immediately. It is a fantastic institution and your child will flourish with the team at YMCA.

Both my girls have attended Charters and I can’t say enough good things about it. Both were so happy there and were brilliantly looked after by their key workers and the rest of the staff. For me, the most important thing is that my children spend as much time as they can outside, and Charters has not disappointed. The gardens for each room are fun and allow them to run around, plus the walks they take to go on a Bear Hunt or decorate Christmas trees in the local Country Park are great (these walks are not a one-off, they happen regularly). The management is superb too, and the staff are supported to identify where children need to develop further. There are always interesting activities for the children and my Mum, who has managed outstanding children’s centres for 30 years herself, says she always gets new ideas when she picks up her grandchildren from Charters. Outstanding setting.

When choosing a nursery for our daughter, outside space was one of our primary concerns. We wanted her to see the outside world as much as possible. Charters outshone all others with the children playing outside, both in the dedicated garden but also importantly within Leavesden’s park grounds.
The other impressive factor was the distinct lack of plastic and Charters’ approach to learning with real life objects.
These things together with the progressive focus on early learning and the caring nature of every single member of staff means we are delighted with our choice and would thoroughly recommend Charters to anyone looking for a nurturing space for their little one to flourish.

Our child has been at the nursery now for 6 months and loves it. The team there have made her feel very welcome and accommodated her routine and needs to help her settle in. They spend a lot of time getting out into the garden or the grounds nearby, giving the children lots of fresh air and have a real mixture of activities, structured and unstructured, inside so that every day she is doing something different. We feel really comfortable dropping her off each day knowing she is in good hands – just what we need from our nursery. The relationships the team build with each child was evident when she moved from one room to the next and they were sad to see her go, if we can’t be with her all day we want her to be surrounded by others that will care and invest in her, which we feel the team do. We would definitely recommend it for anyone looking in the area.

Our daughter has been at Charters Nursery for six months now and we are incredibly happy with both the facilities and the team that work there. The team have made her feel very welcome and as a result she settled in quickly. We can tell how happy she is at nursery by the way she runs in every morning! At pick up, we are given detailed feedback which provides a great overview of the day. I am always impressed by the amount of activities that are created for the children, there is always something new to keep them engaged. My daughter is happiest in the garden and the free-flow system means she gets to spend lots of time outside. There is also lots of opportunities for walks in the surrounding woodlands, something I know my daughter loves! Overall, we are so happy knowing that our daughter loves going into nursery every day and is looked after by a team who truly care about her. I would recommend Charters Nursery to anyone looking for a great place to send their child.

Our son was just shy of 12 months old when he joined in March. They put us at ease straight away because I worried about leaving him after building such an inseparable, close bond during the pandemic. He was not used to being around different people or even other babies. They were so understanding and literally took our son under their wing.
Six months in and he’s developing so well and is so happy. I’m thrilled with the range of toys they have to stimulate him and the other babies, the food is brilliant, his key worker is so lovely and so are all the staff. They are super professional and friendly.
Knowing our son is loved and his needs are met makes us so happy and relieved to not worry whilst we’re at work.
Thank you to all the team for looking after our son so well.

The staff at Charters have been fantastic with both my daughters. Staff greet us with a smile and make the girls feel very welcome. To see the children develop and learn new skills whilst at nursery has been a pleasure to see. Thank you very much for all the hard work each staff member puts in; well done.

It’s been 6 months now since my son joined on a full 5 days per week. He recently started walking and he has enjoyed many development hurdles with the team at Charter’s. I couldn’t be happier with the experience we have every day. Communication is excellent from Management to the team that look after our boy everyday. I look forward to reading the daily report note, highlighting how much my son has eaten (always eats everything!) and the carers always take time to chat through the days activities, how my son has been, answer any questions, and always smiling looking forward to the next day.
The nursery is clearly well managed with excellent systems and processes in place, great meals and scheduled activities and all the staff are well trained and supported. They all seem to thoroughly enjoy what they do and this transfers through to my son who always has a great time, very rarely even looking back at me waving goodbye at drop off.

Both my children love going to Charters Nursery. It was highly recommended to me by a friend for my first child and as soon as I knew I was having another, I signed them up on the waitlist as well.
I had some concerns with my eldest’s speech a while ago but now it’s come along really well and we can almost have full conversations with each other. I believe this is due to the wonderful work at Charters that has made his speech excel.
They’re both exhausted after a full day at nursery and come home really happy, telling us all about it.
I enjoy seeing the things they’ve made during the day and pictures in their books about their progress.
There are a lot of things the girls at Charters have taught my children and I love seeing all of them from new songs (and actions) washing hands, putting on coats/shoes, new words, new games, using the toilet independently, caring for one another, sharing, everything.
I would definitely recommend Charters to everyone and am pleased I chose them!

This is our second child we enrolled at Charters Nursery. We have generally been very happy with our first child who went through from baby room and all the way to pre-school, mostly finding the staff very kind and caring, and made our first child really enjoy nursery life and looking forward to going every day. It is first and foremost a happy place where our little one thrived for the best part of five years, hence giving us no hesitations to sign up our second child! From baby to pre-school, each room was adapting very well to each stage of development and learning, and communication with parents has always been excellent. The staff keep a detailed portfolio providing EFYS evidence but also forms a great keepsake. The significant negatives to Charter’s are the extortionate day rate and the ridiculous policy on bank holidays so you lose out on so much money if your child is in on a Monday or a Friday, which in my opinion is a very unfair policy that really ought to be reviewed.

We currently have the second of our two children at Charters and we have always been absolutely thrilled with the nursery. Their communication is brilliant and they are so organised with everything they do. The manager runs things impeccably and is always on hand to discuss things if you have any concerns. So happy with our choice of nursery and would recommend it to anyone.

With two children at this nursery we are continually impressed with the care, attention, growth and development all of the team show. Genuine care and attention is shown and is personalised to each child. The activities are always varied and a good amount of time spent outside.
