Tops Day Nurseries: Portsmouth Nursery

Staff and management team are lovely and helpful all the time. My boy really enjoyed his time in the nursery. I noticed how quickly my boy started learning with teachers – songs, numeracy, dance, language. My boy attended nursery since he was two years old. He loved Forest School. There were great facilities, lovely location and dedicated staff. We are pleased with how the team looked after my boy. He developed a lot through play activities at the nursery.

My daughter has been attending this nursery since she was 10 months old. Now at the age of 3, I am very happy that she is not a very shy little girl anymore. Attending this nursery has helped her develop social skills, communication and confidence. She enjoys the variety of activities provided at the nursery. The one aspect which needs improving is taking children for outings on foot or by vehicle. In the 2 years my daughter has been there, she has never been for any outing. And also learning log entries on the parents’ app were very regular on a weekly basis until she was in explorers. After which it has been very limited. Overall, I am happy with the flexibility in booking hours and the support given. Thank you.

My child has been attending nursery since he was 8 months he is now only 17 months but I couldn’t fault the nursery. At first, my son would cry every time I left him, as he is uncomfortable around people. Now he takes his bag from me ready to start with the lovely staff. The staff, who my child has interacted with since being there, have done a wonderful job! They know the majority of things about my son – what he likes/dislikes, when he is tired, when hungry and so on! They have to remember other kids and they are like my child’s third home. They make sure when it’s sunny, they are out in the garden and my son loves the outside so that’s nice to know. The one thing I would change, if it was possible, I understand the staff work from 06:00-20:00 as it is! But as I work in the hospital when working till 20:00 it is hard to try and leave early to get on time so if they made it 20:10 just so I got that little extra time to be there on time and not get charged £30:00.

Thank you Tops Day Nursery team, especially to Preschool 3, for the overall development of my son. He is enjoying his new school. He would not be able to do that unless you helped him in his early stages. Thank you once again.

Staff are very welcoming and understands my child’s needs. The receptionist is very nice. They could improve with their food options, other than that, I am happy with the overall services. My child loves going to the nursery and learn new activities.

The management team always wanting to improve the nursery, really approachable and happy to help whenever needed, any small issues we have had, they have rectified immediately. Office staff are really great and attention to detail is amazing. If I make a mistake you can guarantee they will pick it up and check to avoid unnecessary costs. Always polite and friendly. Nursery staff are always great, my smallest loves the team in the nest, she runs to give them cuddles and for me, that speaks a thousand words. Preschool 1, the team are so lovely and the forest school just puts the cherry on the cake, my daughter loves it. The staff are great at handover, I would just like a bit more communication on what she is learning at preschool age, but I know children learn best during play so I’m not overly concerned. Kitchen: the meal choices are brilliant with the cold and hot options changing all the time. The flexibility allows me to keep working without unnecessary cost.

My son is extremely happy at the nursery and skips through the doors every day. I have had a great experience dealing with the staff and would definitely recommend other parents to ensure their child attends here. Prior to coming to nursery, my son was socially withdrawn around others which was due to the pandemic and limited interaction. Since then he has grown massively in confidence and I credit that to how much he enjoys the nursery. I have also found the admin to be very helpful in any queries regarding change of hours and flexible with changes I have had to make fairly quickly. I feel he has been well prepared for primary school and will be sad to leave.

My son started here in November and I could not fault the nursery at all. He has blossomed into a confident and bright young man thanks to all the nursery workers. They are excellent at communication and making sure to keep me up to date with my son’s progress. My son needs a little extra help in certain areas and they have gone above and beyond to assist me with this. All the staff are lovely and efficient. I feel confident in recommending this nursery to anyone!

I contacted Tops Day Nursery looking for an emergency day space for my toddler as we were travelling to Portsmouth for my mother’s funeral the following day and had been let down with our childcare arrangements. The office team at Tops were very quick to respond and was thankfully able to facilitate us. Although we were only coming for one day, the nursery was very thorough in enrolling and learning about my son’s likes and needs, etc.
I was apprehensive as to how he would react to a new space and people, however, we found the nursery very welcoming and my son was very happy to go inside with the caregiver and settled in immediately. When I picked him up in the afternoon he was in great spirits and spoke about the wonderful day he had and all the activities he did at his ‘special nursery’.

I cannot praise this nursery enough, they have helped and supported my little man in the transition for him to start school in September. They all have the children’s best interests at heart and they go above and beyond for them. Thank you very much for everything you have done and more.
