December 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe team is quite friendly, kind and helpful. My kid had difficulty settling in and now he is very happy when I drop him off at nursery, and he is happy when I pick him up. They also help me if I have some problem with nursery paperwork. Food is good, it made me realize my kid is up to try different tastes.

December 3, 2020 at 12:00 amMy daughter has been with them since she was 10 months old and she will be four next month. Interestingly, I have never had a reason to complain about care at the setting. It is a great setting for children to grow.

December 3, 2020 at 12:00 amThe staff are fantastic, caring and hard working. The nursery staff have been great at settling my little one into his first nursery experience. The communication from management is not so good. Twice I requested receipts for my nursery payments via email to the management, and twice by a telephone call in order to send to Universal Credit. I still have received nothing. As a result, my Universal Credit payments have been held up which has been most unwelcome and could have been avoided had management been better at responding to emails and remembering to complete tasks discussed over the phone. Very frustrating. Also, sometimes my child is handed over to me at the end of the day (6pm) without his coat, hat or jumper on (they are just handed to me) so I have to dress him at the nursery front door – often in the cold (it’s November), to prepare him for his journey home. This doesn’t happen with all just all nursery staff. The learning book is great!

December 7, 2020 at 12:00 amStepping Stones is an excellent nursery. My daughter has attended for two years since she was a year old and we have had an amazing experience so far. Would highly recommend. The staff are friendly and caring and she absolutely loves going to nursery.

December 7, 2020 at 12:00 amI’m totally recommending Stepping Stones Nursery. From the first day my daughter started, I could see how happy she was. She improved in all ways. All the staff is really friendly and always there to help with any questions or concerns. I feel really safe knowing that my daughter is in good hands. Well done team!

December 8, 2020 at 12:00 amThere is so much I could say about the wonderful staff. They are caring, nurturing and empathetic. They are incredibly engaging with the children and make the difficult and rushed mornings so much easier. The leadership of the nursery is just as amazing and takes a holistic approach to the care of the children. Settling back in after the spring and summer lockdown was made easier by the interest being taken in the health and well-being of the entire household and my son’s development since he had been away. Although the nursery is owned by a larger company, it doesn’t feel like it. The leadership are responsive and compassionate as are the staff. My son adores the setting and always has a varied day of activities to keep him engaged. They are very child-led and I don’t feel rushed or pressured to “potty train” or distress him to bring him to an unrealistic expectation I have seen at other settings. I can’t express enough how great this nursery is.

December 9, 2020 at 12:00 amMy daughter has been attending this nursery for almost two years and joined when she was 11 months old. My daughter first joined the baby room upstairs which is bright (windows front and back) has nice toys and some of the most loving and caring staff that provided such brilliant support for my daughter as she went from being full time at home with me to three days a week. During that time my daughter learned to walk and talk much more, learning new words and songs. The baby room has its own outside garden space which was specially adapted for little crawlers and small explorers. After 13 months in the baby room, my daughter moved to the toddler room. We were sad to not see as much of the baby room staff, however, we weren’t prepared for how amazing the toddler staff were going to be. Going to great lengths to support and provide interesting educational sessions. They even made robots one day just because my daughter was into them! I was blown away.

March 23, 2021 at 12:00 amMy son came to this nursery when he was two years old, he has now just turned five and is thriving. He came to the nursery with educational needs and speech delay! The nursery were absolutely brilliant with him. They did everything to help him thrive. They were kind, loving, caring and he just loved going there to see the staff and his friends. They never, ever treated him any differently to the other children and always made an effort to try and understand what he would be trying to say to them. I honestly cannot thank this nursery enough for everything they did for him. I will always be forever grateful to them. Thank you.

February 24, 2023 at 12:00 amMy child attends baby class there and she is certainly thriving there and seems to love all the staff. The staff are very friendly and helpful to us parents too.
The food has been hit and miss, it was very limited until my baby turned one but seems to be improving now and I know other children in the older classes have a great menu.
No place is perfect so I would say that their organisation could be improved with respect to email communication. Also, I know other nurseries do use apps and such to log baby sleep and food etc during the day and that would certainly be a nice bonus but perhaps it is best they are focussing more on the child and not updating an app. Overall it is a lovely place and is wholly focussed on the kids and their development and is great value for money,

March 6, 2023 at 12:00 amMy child joined this nursery when he was one, and he is now about to turn three and is in the preschool room and loves it. The nursery staff are always friendly and caring and definitely have helped my child’s development.
Lately, there have been a few changes in staff, and the email communication has become quite poor when you email any queries; this previously was extremely quick and helpful. Additionally, the app they use to record activities that your child has done used to be updated weekly with photos and notes; now, you maybe receive an update once a month, if that. Overall, I am extremely happy with this nursery and its facilities and the lovely staff.

March 6, 2023 at 12:00 amMy little one loves her time at nursery; she always comes home smiling. I was so nervous about her first few days, but the settling-in process is incredibly useful, and it works. My child was reaching out to the nursery staff after week one because she enjoys it so much.
The food seems to be great again; she seems to enjoy it a lot. She has developed a lot over the past few months, and I know that the staff support her in this development.
I would like to see more updates. I use the app, but entries are random and a surprise rather than an expectation. I care about my daughter’s development and seeing that more often would be great.
My only real frustration is pick-up and drop-off times. It’s not uncommon to be stood waiting for 5-10mins. And I know it must be really challenging to balance multiple children and parents, but having someone on ‘door duty’ might go a long way.
Most importantly, my little girl loves it here. They are caring, supportive and kind.

March 6, 2023 at 12:00 amMy child generally loves the nursery. The staff seem caring and competent, accidents are infrequent. She eats a good variety of food, has a fair bit of outside time and there’s lots of toys to play with, she’s made some friends there too.

March 6, 2023 at 12:00 amMy daughter has been attending Stepping Stones Day Nursery Speedwell for just over a year now. Starting in the baby room and now in the toddler room. Since the first day, she’s so happy to go and so happy after such a fun and entertaining day. The care and attention she receives is second to none. She has learnt so much and is thriving there. She comes home with the cutest artwork. The communication with the staff is amazing. She is so happy and confident and I know this is down to the professional, experienced and loving staff.

March 27, 2023 at 12:00 amLove the flexibility this nursery provides. Staff are always friendly and nice. My only issues are the amount of time it takes to get someone to answer the door and communication via email is very slow.

April 26, 2023 at 12:00 amLovely nursery which has improved greatly over the past few months with the new manager coming on board. Great staff. Bright, welcoming nursery with a lovely outdoor space. My son always comes out happy.

April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amStepping Stones Day Nursery looks after both of our children. During 2022, there were real struggles with staffing careers and management. During 2023, this seems to have improved. Our girls love the nursery and the carers they interact with.
I feel the cost of the carers is reasonable, and we have been generally happy with our experiences over the last three years. I can recommend this nursery to those considering it as an option.

April 27, 2023 at 12:00 amMy daughter started Stepping Stones in September 2022 at the age of thirteen months. Since she started, she has loved going nursery and has built lovely relationships with the staff. Staff give details and clear information at pick up so I feel informed about my daughter’s day. In addition to this, her learning journal is regularly updated so I can see what she gets up to during the day. I’m so happy with how starting nursery has gone and really pleased that we picked Stepping Stones.

May 4, 2023 at 12:00 amThe staff is nice and there was an improvement since the manager joined this nursery. My daughter loves the staff and she seems happy here, but here is where the good part ends.
The building is very dated and in urgent need of repairs and TLC. The menu is very repetitive and based on carbs, not protein and veggies. The outdoor space for babies is small and very dated.
They seem understaffed most of the time, once even closed the room with short notification (I received an email at 8pm) due to lack of staff.
There have been several cases where they didn’t change my daughter’s nappy in time and didn’t wipe her properly. Also when I pick her up I always wait around 20 minutes (not great when is raining and windy outside).

July 14, 2023 at 12:00 amWe have been using Stepping Stones Day Nursery Speedwell for the last six years for both my children. Over that time, we’ve seen quite a few changes and gone through all the difficulties of 2020 and 2021. My children have always loved going to nursery there, and I feel the staff genuinely care about their wellbeing. Even though my eldest is now at school, the staff who worked with her remember her and greet her warmly when we’re at the morning drop-off for my youngest. I am always impressed by how the staff know all the children’s names, even those of the children that are not in their “rooms” or the staff that are only there a few days a week. The facilities are a bit tired and dated, but since the new manager started, there have been some new initiatives introduced, such as the time for stories book bags, which my son absolutely loves. It would be good if the Learning Book was updated more regularly, but appreciate it takes time out of focusing on the children.

August 28, 2023 at 12:00 amIt’s been two years now with Stepping Stones Speedwell and we are so happy with how this nursery has been to us and all of its employees. Our son loves it and can’t wait to go see his friends and carers every day.
