Sherfield Nursery

I joined my little one in Sherfield nursery/School, and I never regretted it. They took individual care of each and every child and helped my son to learn things independently. The teaching methods are creative, and the child never gets bored. I am more than happy to recommend this school/nursery.

Fabulous setting, very welcoming environment and great staff. We were supported very well during the settling in of our daughter, and we had received great flexibility during the Covid-19 times. We would highly recommend it.

Both my boys have attended Sherfield Nursery from the baby room to the big school with the youngest finishing pre-reception this summer. They are happy there, the staff are attentive and go the extra mile for both the children and parents. Communication is excellent and has improved immensely over the years. We get daily updates of what’s been happening through the app and at collection, we speak to the teachers as well which is great. They have activity mornings where you go into the classrooms with the kids to see what they get up to during the day. The nursery has adapted well by continuing with parent updates via Zoom. Kids use the library, computer whiteboards, learn French, German and Spanish. l also love that they have big grounds, the children have daily walks and the playground for fresh air. I’m grateful for how my children have grown and the skills they have acquired to prepare them for school. l couldn’t have chosen a better nursery. l would definitely recommend to anyone.

Sherfield is a fabulous school.
The teachers are all very welcoming and caring for the children. The facilities are really good, and there many different activities and interactions for the children, including some stunning walks through the acres belonging to Sherfield.
The children to teacher ratio are extremely good too; you have around 3-4 children per teacher, making it very interpersonal.
Overall, I highly recommend this school.

My son never really enjoyed going to the Nursery and in 7 months never bought anything home that he’d done during the day. The school has lovely grounds and the staff were generally fine but the Nursery was going through a transition period and there were some significant issues including with safeguarding. Fees were put up and parents weren’t told. They run the Nursery largely in isolation from the main school so there’s little monitoring of what goes on. When I tried to bring up issues the Head of Prep acknowledged issues but never came back to me to see if things had changed or properly address the concerns. The Head of the School was just rude and had no interest in what was wrong. I’ve dealt with and worked in a lot of private schools and it just wasn’t the experience you would expect. We had really thought we’d found a school that would take our children right through to 18 but unfortunately not. Really would not recommend.

Great experience of nursery so far for my little one, despite an emotional start. Staff are great, activities are varied, and management is really open to suggestions/feedback and making improvements. Joining communication could be better up front.

Overall, I’m happy with the service provided and the way the nursery has adapted to our requests as parents. I would like more ability to walk into the nursery, which is probably how things were pre-Covid.
I would like the nursery to help with Government child hours; it’s disappointing they don’t offer this – we still plan to keep our child here for pre-school and private school, but some extra help wouldn’t go a miss.

Our son attended from Sept 21 to June 22. He is now much happier and has settled into his new nursery in only a couple of days. His new nursery are amazing and are a home away from home. The amount of children in each room is much higher at Sherfield. We had quite a lot of issues with being told different things about what he had eaten during the day – he has food allergies so this was extremely important for us to know. He got bitten more than a few times by another child. Once they didn’t even realise and just thought that he’d been hit by another child but when we got him home he had teeth marks on his arm. He had an accident at nursery and banged his head but we weren’t informed until the following day. The children also don’t have free access to water so he would be extremely thirsty a lot and have constipation. If he made a card the staff would just write “from …” inside, it seemed like it was too much effort for them to add anything further. We would not recommend, lots of unhappy parents.

The most amazing setting with fantastic staff and amazing care! If I could give it 1000 stars, I would. Both my children have gone through this nursery, and it was very sad to see them leave. It truly is a great nursery!

Think it’s an amazing nursery – fantastic space, setting and, most importantly, staff!
The little ones are well looked after, and as a parent, I feel updated and informed. They have lots of choices of clean toys, soft play and fun activities.
