Purbrook Day Nursery & Pre-school

I can’t recommend this nursery enough. My son has been attending this nursery since he was 9 months old. From being a ‘lockdown baby’, he really struggled with the transition, there were lots of tears and he wasn’t settled. However, the staff were amazing and even offered to keep in touch sessions over the summer holidays, as for him not to go backwards! He now goes in perfectly fine, waves goodbye and has a fun-packed day! Special mention goes to his key worker, she is so patient and so good with him! My mind is completely at ease knowing he is being well looked after. Thank you!

My son can be a very boisterous boy and his listening ears often go on holiday. But my son’s key worker and the manager have not given up on him and ensure he has a fun time while at the nursery. My son always comes home telling us about his day with his keyworker and what fun activities they have done. This week the discussion has been non-stop about the chicks that have hatched and his favourite one he named (who is also a staff member at the nursery who has always got time for my son) I couldn’t be happier with this nursery.

My son has been attending the Preschool for 18 months. He absolutely loves his days there. The staff are so knowledgeable about the curriculum and the activities they provide for the children reflect current best practices. The manager always responds promptly to any queries we have and we feel she knows our son really well. He always talks about the learning he does with one of the staff and says he does brilliant voices when reading stories to the group!

We recently attended the Open Day and I was amazed by the wonderful new outdoor space and facilities they have. They have a real focus on natural materials, small parts play and lots of wonderful learning opportunities with living animals like chicks, tadpoles and fish. Our son loves the free reign they have when playing outdoors and being able to play outside in all weather. During the Open Day, I tried some of the dishes cooked by Lorraine. The jerk chicken with mango salsa was delicious. Our son is a fairly fussy eater but he always eats well there.

Brilliant nursery/preschool. My daughter loves it. She has been going there since she was 1 year old, she’s 3.5 years old now. Children have lots of fun, also learn lots of interesting facts. I would highly recommend this nursery/pre-school.

My daughter joined the nursery 2-years ago; she had a very rocky start and really hated us leaving her, but the staff were outstanding with the care/love and distraction techniques, and after just a few short weeks, she absolutely loved going. No tears, no upset. Now at the age of 3, she can’t wait to go! The staff were so much fun and were so engaging while she was in the toddler group; now she is in preschool, she doesn’t even say goodbye; she just wants to see her keyworker and play games! The managers are brilliant and keep us up to date with everything in their newsletters or when we see them on drop off/pick up. We can’t recommend the nursery enough.

In the short time my child has been at Purbrook Day Nursery, the staff in the baby snug and in particular her key worker has been nothing short of amazing. They have made my return to work so much easier by knowing she is in safe hands with staff who are kind, caring and so responsive to her needs. She already knows her likes and dislikes and tends to these so well – they have such a lovely relationship and she has never found it difficult to say goodbye to me.

She and the other staff are so patient and will happily adapt to cater for her being tricky at times! This includes when she has found it difficult to wean or get herself off to sleep. Her key worker makes sure she is always the first face she sees when I drop her off which reassures us both! All baby staff provide exciting opportunities for the children to learn and explore and are so nurturing. I would highly recommend this nursery as one where the children will thrive.

My daughter has been attending Purbrook Day Nursery and Pre-school for nearly a year and she loves it! She really likes all of the staff and the other children. The staff work hard to involve the community by holding events like their Summer Fair that included a petting zoo which my daughter was so excited about. I’m very happy I chose this nursery!

My eldest daughter has been attending the nursery since we relocated back to the UK last year from overseas and our soon to be 6-month-old daughter will be joining her in September. I’m feeling confident that she will settle in well knowing how great the last year has been. All the staff are very friendly and genuinely caring. Communication and updates are regular and it has always been easy to arrange a face to face chat if I’ve needed to speak to her key worker or one of the management team. My daughter is happy and enjoys nursery days often chatting about the many fun activities provided and going through all of the names of the staff and other children she interacts and plays with. The food offered is varied and nutritious and we have really appreciated the cook catering for specific needs of our daughter at different times. The main outside area is looking great and we’re excited to see the new baby snug which should be open in the coming months.

Today was my daughters last day at this pre-school. She started at the age of 2 and has loved every minute she has spent here. The team are friendly and approachable. The activities vary all the time so lots of variety and very much based on childrens current interests. My daughter noticed her headband made a reflection from the sunlight so they did a whole activity based on that. Knowing she had a hot meal every day and tried some meals that she would never try at home was a massive plus for me. The amount of garden space available is also great and I love that the kids are out there in most weather. Her key worker changed a lot because of covid but she’s always been happy with all the team members. She absolutely loved helping with the babies and the team were great at encouraging her, she said she wanted to come back and work in the baby room when she’s older until she was told she would have to change nappies! Thank you to the whole team for making her time with you so enjoyable.

My son started back in June, he was 18 months old and I was really worried about how he would be in a nursery environment as he only went to a childminder. Since he has been coming here, we have noticed such a change in him. He is more confident and has developed in so many ways. He absolutely loves going to nursery and I feel such comfort knowing how well looked after he is each day there. He has a good relationship with his keyworkers which I find very important. The nursery itself has a warm, comforting and welcoming feel and I knew it was the right one straight away.
