September 4, 2024 at 5:51 pmMy daughter attended from 6 mths to 5 years and had a ball the whole time.
Free playtime, Forest schools, days out to the care home, hatching chickens, gymnastics, cooking with chef, daily mile, helping the hedgehogs, cartwheels, growing herbs, helping the builders, poo sticks, climbing frames, hide and seek, leavers show, you name it they did it.
Whatever your own childhood journey was I’m sure Pilrig will match or exceed it.

September 17, 2024 at 1:33 amPilrig Children’s Nursery has provided such a secure, calm, nurturing setting for her, and the social skills and self-assurance she has gained from that journey are fantastic to see. The (pre-Covid) free-flow between the rooms so that kids of all ages could playtime together was really beneficial for all, and will hopefully return. The childcare centre’s outdoor space is remarkable. I have recommended this childcare centre to friends already, and I thank the team there for helping to provide my daughter with the skills and self‑assurance she needs now for starting school. My daughter attended from age 3 to 5 and has just finished up to start school.

October 20, 2024 at 3:35 amOur daughter has learned so much, has had such a lovely time and made best friends. Staff are all super enthusiastic and positive and the space is lovely. Food appears to be great too. Love this childcare centre.

October 24, 2024 at 12:43 pmThe ethos of free playtime and outdoor discovering is absolutely embedded in the wide range of activities on site in the rooms (as well as additional sport/yoga/music activities at no extra cost) and in the lovely outdoor spaces. The blocks of ‘forest school’ days spent in the local woods were a favourite. Lots of effort is made to have links with the wider community through regular outings to libraries, food banks and elderly sheltered housing etc.
The cook encourages the kids to help prepare fresh food and baking. The team are very attentive, involved and work hard to make the kids’s’ journey enjoyable. My son was very cheerful there and Meadows prepared him well for school. He left with lasting, cheerful memories of his childcare centre days! A fantastic childcare centre where my son made excellent friends.

October 26, 2024 at 6:38 pmI have two kids and they both attend. They encourage the kids to be outside whatever the weather, the food is homemade (the older kids can help make the bread in the morning!), they go on plenty of trips and are consistently excited to go in the morning and playing happily when I come to pick them up. Highly suggest. A excellent childcare centre!

November 17, 2024 at 4:25 pmAccess to garden though french doors. Really nice childcare centre, not too big – remarkable space with 8-6pm.

December 5, 2024 at 1:15 amMy daughter has loved it and is now going to school. It is a smaller childcare centre which is excellent. I will be sending my second there when he is the right age. The team are all excellent and you get plenty of feedback and updates. Cannot suggest them highly enough. I adore Meadows at Pilrig.

December 9, 2024 at 4:35 amBoth really enjoyed their time at childcare centre for a number of reasons, including the welcoming and engaging team members (many of whom have been there since the beginning), the outstanding and varied food; the family sense of the place; the huge range of activities on offer and the chance to spend much of each day playing outdoors.
We’ve also – as have the kids – been very impressed by the variety of other activities offered – from trips to the local care home to forest schools to visits to a food bank and the kids’s own productions of plays and sing-alongs in the local church.
It’s given both kids a excellent start in life and I couldn’t suggest it more highly. Our eldest kid started at Meadows Pilrig shortly after it opened – in 2014 – and was there for 3 years prior to starting school while our younger kid started in 2016.

December 19, 2024 at 3:13 amMy son had been going for over 3 years and has loved his time there. The childcare centre has a nice sense with lots of natural light and a excellent outdoor space. The kids spend a lot of time outside even if the weather isn’t excellent. For the older kids, there seems to be a great mix of structured activities/educational discussion and free flow playtime. Staff are welcoming and give a great handover at the end of the day. Pilrig Children’s Nursery is a lovely childcare centre.

December 25, 2024 at 10:53 pmOur little one has just left to go to big school and they were excellent at preparing him for the move. His first childcare centre shut down during Covid and so the team was excellent at handling the transition and integrating him with the room. We really saw his self‑assurance grow through this childcare centre. This was a excellent childcare centre.

December 28, 2024 at 11:52 amIt is a lovely local childcare centre with a excellent team of team. The facilities are outstanding and there are (pre-Covid) excellent opportunities for kids of different ages to integrate throughout the childcare centre. The enclosed outdoor area is a real asset and provides a sheltered and protected space for kids to be outdoor whenever they want. We sent all three of our kids to Pilrig Nursery from infants all the way to starting school.

January 18, 2025 at 3:37 pmHe was so well cared for and I consistently felt that the team working with him were genuinely interested in him as a little person and what he loved to do. The childcare centre encouraged his adore of the outdoors through the forest schools programme and he adored his ‘daily mile’. They gave him lots of opportunities to learn about the world around him and to explore his interests through playtime. He did every activity on offer – yoga, sport, dance, music, care home visits, library visits, theatre trips – and all were included in the fees. While he is settled and very cheerful now in school, we all miss the childcare centre! Both myself and my husband have recommended Pilrig Children’s Nursery to friends and family and sense very lucky that we found it for our son when we did. From his first day at 11 months old until he left at 5 for school, my son had a fabulous time at Pilrig.

February 4, 2025 at 10:32 pmWe very much suggest it.
The team are diverse, bringing different skills and experiences to the kids. Turnover seemed low and they seemed to genuinely care about the girls which is really reassuring as a parent.
The food is homemade and the cook consistently involved the kids. Indeed she could consistently get them to eat things they would never accept at home!
The garden is large and much time is spent out there.
Thoughtful and creative activities are planned each week, which the girls would delight in talking about once they were home.
We were really sad to leave Meadows, they were like a family. Our two daughters attended Meadows Nursery at Pilrig for 3 years.

March 8, 2025 at 10:12 pmShe loves being outdoors so really thrived being able to go in the garden at her own will, along with the forest school offered. Communication with team has consistently been easy and effective. I would highly suggest and hope to send my newborn there at a later stage. My daughter attended here from 2 to 5 years old and absolutely loved it.

March 26, 2025 at 4:04 amThe team were very attentive and supportive of him, and we could tell he learned so much from the other kids. His language skills, in particular, became noticeably more developed. He also adores washing his hands with soap now! The outdoor space is outstanding and something we will really miss when we move on. Due to moving out of the area, our son was only at Meadows for 6 months and it was with excellent regret that we ended his time there!

April 4, 2025 at 2:36 amWe have loved The Meadows childcare centre and sense team have encouraged, nurtured and educated our daughter very well. The team have been very approachable and we have consistently found the setting to be well suited for to the purpose.
The kids spend lots of time outside if they choose and there are lots of extra activities available. I would suggest this childcare centre highly. My daughter has attended this childcare centre for two years.

April 27, 2025 at 12:33 amVery organised run childcare centre with team who genuinely care. My son thrived from being at Pilrig Nursery, he often asks when he can go back!! There was consistently exciting and enjoyable activities the team arranged for the kids indoors and outings. Honestly such a lovely childcare centre with exceptional team! My kid attended Pilrig Nursery from the age of nine months – until going to school.

May 21, 2025 at 9:53 amFrom our first meeting with team and her first settle, we knew that we had happened upon a really great childcare centre. The atmosphere that the team, parents and kids created really was like the best extended family you could ever know. Our daughter talked excitedly about her friendships, sand, discovering, songs and the many team that showed her such adore and affection during her time there. Staff responded so well to parental queries and it was a pleasure both dropping our daughter off and collecting at the end of her enjoyable day there. The set up allows free playtime (both in and outdoors) and focussed discovering relevant to the age/stage group. Forest schools were also offered to kids once they turned three and our daughter loved this journey. In terms of the 3-5 curriculum I was very impressed with how this was covered and the team couldn’t hide their excitement at being part of our daughters discovering. Our daughter attended Meadows Nursery from 17 months to 3 years.

July 2, 2025 at 1:43 amActivities they enjoyed most were often trips to ‘forest school’, music and ‘tatty bumpkins’, as well as being involved in end-of-year shows. The big playtime area out the back was also a hit. And they were consistently fed well with healthy meals and snacks.
We were sorry to leave the childcare centre and could not suggest it highly enough to anyone looking for pre-school childcare in the area. We’ve had two kids in the childcare centre over the past couple of years and have nothing but great feedback to give on our experiences.
Both kids were very clearly well looked after and comfortable with their surroundings and with the team, and it was consistently a comfort to see them so cheerful at the end of each day.
There consistently appeared to be a very great balance between organised activities and scope for free playtime.
