Maples Day Nursery (Winchester)

Really couldn’t be happier with Maples. The staff are friendly, approachable and welcoming. Opening hours are great for working parents (can drop off early and pick up late). Really like that there is a good size outdoor space and an on-site kitchen, a bonus is it’s so close to the train station for my commute.
My daughter loves going and has really bonded well with the staff and kids in her room, making some lovely friendships as well. She has really come out of her shell since she started going. They do lots of creative, messy activities that we could never do with her at home

Maples Day Nursery (Winchester) is an absolutely fantastic place to send your children. We have two boys (1 and 4) there and they love it! The staff are fantastic, they are so caring and they really keep track of how your child is doing. They spend so much time outdoors, doing brilliant activities. The food is really good and balanced. I highly recommend it!

The staff have been so caring throughout my daughter’s journey (from Ladybirds to Preschool), taking an interest in her interests, and building learning opportunities around them. The parent communication portal is used effectively, emails are answered promptly, and staff provide a comprehensive handover upon collection. During Covid, effective safeguarding arrangements were in place for nursery staff to call home and check in with the children. Behaviour is managed positively, sensitively, and through a restorative approach. I have witnessed a number of staff managing incidents of behaviour with patience and consistence. The staff go the extra mile – caring for chickens, organising wonderful events (the Jubilee picnic and Halloween events were fantastic), running zoom coffee mornings and following the interests of the children. Thorough monitoring and reporting of children’s progress ensures parents are kept up to date with learning goals and targets.

I cannot sing the praises of Maples and The Caterpillar room enough. They have made the whole thing of leaving little one so much easier to deal with. The communication is excellent from the moment you look into this place. They have gone above and beyond to make sure that little one was happy. He is always happy to leave me and welcomes the ladies with open arms. The food that they offer him is always tasty and varied. The learning opportunities and the social and emotional support are fantastic. The room is full of varied exploration opportunities and they change things about to provide variety.
I would 100% recommend the place and couldn’t be happier with the start that little one is getting in caterpillars. I can’t wait to see what else he learns and explores.

A huge thank you to the team in the caterpillar (baby) room for the level of care and attention they’ve given my daughter, as she settles into the nursery. The staff at Maples are always incredibly positive and it feels like everyone knows the children very well. It is also lovely to see so many of the same staff at the nursery as when my son attended a good few years ago.

Maples is a really lovely nursery! Our eldest son has been going for a few years and recently our 2nd has started and they have just been so kind, friendly and supportive. The facilities and garden are really modern and they have recently had a new playground installed which looks amazing! Staff are really supportive and very good at responding to calls/emails so you always feel informed and confident your child is being well looked after!

I could not be happier with the love, attention and care that Maples give my little boy. His key person is always there to greet him when he arrives so he almost never gets upset going in and he has the best day ever whilst he’s there – I can tell, because he never wants to leave! I have to chase him around the room to try to get him out of there at the end of the day. He has been at Maples since 7 months old and is now almost 2 and we absolutely love the staff. They are always so caring and lovely – they go out of their way to make sure that we feel supported at Maples. The food always sounds (and smells) great and is very varied and the admin staff and managers are also very good and communicative. Overall, we are so pleased we joined the Maples family!

Our daughter started in the caterpillar room in February and she has settled in so well. She is excited to arrive in the morning and very pleased so see all the staff. The communication has been great and it’s lovely to see all the different things she gets up to during the day.

Our daughter graduated today from Maples, she is starting Reception in September. We also have a son in Maples. Both of them started when they were less than one year old. This means that our daughter experienced all of the rooms.
Our overall experience has been excellent. Staff is really good and we couldn’t be happier with them and how they treat our children. The curriculum is very child-focused and is particularly strong on values. Over the years, our children’s key people have been phenomenal – you can see they really live and breathe their jobs. We always liked that the nursery has a very big outside area and the children spend quite a lot of time there. They seem to have a very good grasp of the developmental needs of children and communication with parents, either through the app or by conversations at pick-up and drop-off, is really informative. We couldn’t be happier.

My son has loved nursery at Maples Day Nursery. The staff take great care of him and us too! My second child starts soon – looking for to it. My 4-year-old son says ‘I love preschool, I like playing with my friends’.
