September 4, 2024 at 2:47 amMy little girl loves Cheerful Jays, she’s had an outstanding start to her educational journey and the assistance she has had through a language delay and the need for grommets has been exceptional.The team have so much time for her it is a pleasure to bring her. There is so much for the kids to do and has a highly close knit sense to the setting. I couldn’t suggest this childcare centre any more than I already do, I tell family and friends all the time how excellent they all are with her. Keep up the great work it’s incredible. This childcare centre is absolutely exceptional.

November 24, 2024 at 10:33 amNothing is too much trouble for the girls. He has made life long friendships with his all key persons throughout the childcare centre. He is now due to start at our local school childcare centre. Having been at Cheerful Jays has prepared him in so many ways. He is well advanced for his age and I believe this is down to the teaching and discovering that he has received from all the team. The childcare centre is bright and open with an added childcare centre garden which is a excellent place to learn about the world around them, this is something my son enjoys as he loves been outdoors. All the team are welcoming and polite who all seem to truly delight in what they do. My little boy is now nearly 4 and has attended the childcare centre since he was 4 months old, the care he received as a baby right through to pre school has been outstanding.

My son has additional needs and allergies, and the childcare centre and all of the team went out of their way to accommodate every need for him. I can’t suggest this childcare centre enough and I’m so grateful he attended this childcare centre. They have given him the best possible start I could have wished for and I am truly grateful to them for this. You deserve all the recognition and more. Thank you to all the team at Cheerful Jays York. Absolutely incredible. Wow!

February 28, 2025 at 12:05 amI do not suggest. Just read the Ofsted report from September. Between May and September, this childcare centre went from needs improving to inadequate and there’s a reason for it. Poor management, consistently using agency team that don’t know the kids. They did try to use the same team, but it wasn’t consistently possible. The number of times I went in to collect my son to be greeted by different team was ridiculous. High turnover of permanent team, I counted at least 6 in 4 months.
I had to fight to be allowed back in the childcare centre to collect my son.
There were multiple times my son had napped late afternoon and when I mentioned he shouldn’t be napping, the standard response was ‘oh should he not’. Most likely because the team aren’t permanent and it would be time-consuming to update all the different agency team!
Updates on what was going on at the childcare centre was limited. Over 2 months there were just 5 observations uploaded to. There are far better, adequate nurseries than Cheerful Jays.

June 18, 2025 at 11:40 amMy son has come on leaps and bounds since joining and it’s all down to their remarkable team. Yes, there has been some bumps in the road but as an ex-deputy manager of a childcare centre I understand it isn’t consistently smooth sailing with staffing etc. The team they have in place at the moment are excellent and each and every one of them have made time to build a relationship with my son and myself!
I know my son is in highly secure hands when I drop him off and his development so far just proves that this is the correct childcare centre for him to attend! I couldn’t be more happier with Cheerful Jays York if I tried!

June 20, 2025 at 5:28 amHe has now left to go to school and I think he has had a excellent start due to the care given at the childcare centre, nothing was ever too much trouble. Now my little girl has started in the baby room and couldn’t be happier, she is thriving. The food in the childcare centre is well cooked and highly nutritious with a excellent variety of different foods on the menu. My little boy started at Cheerful Jays when he was 9 months old, he has consistently been cheerful there and has never had a problem transitioning from room to room, I sense this is due to the attentive team and exceptional practices they have in place.
