Acorn Day Nursery (YMCA, Central Milton Keynes)

Our baby girl was under one when she first attended the nursery and I believe she was one of the first ones to join the nursery after it was opened this year.
As a first time parent and under the current situation I was very anxious about the settling in process but we were extremely happy with how it went. All of the staff there were passionate and dedicated to making our little one feel comfortable and now she loves going to the nursery.
She is 14 months old now and she gets involved in a lot of sensory and messy play, using mostly natural elements which is great. Loves the food there and eating with her new friends which is great for developing social skills in this current environment, when we don’t get to socialize as much as we would normally.
Highly recommend the nursery and we are excited about the future with them!

We love this nursery. Our son has been going right since it opened and he has loved it, making friends and forming strong bonds with the staff. The staff are enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. We get updates throughout the day via the app to let us know what he’s been up to, what he’s had to eat etc., as well as observations about all the progress our son is making against key measures so we know he’s developing well. The nursery talks to us about what they’re going to be getting up to and encourages us to send in pictures and comments about what’s going on at home so they can tie it in. Despite the challenging circumstances around Covid they have kept everyone safe, stayed upbeat, and organised fantastic activities. We’re moving away soon and are very sad we can’t take the nursery with us! Highly recommended.

My two-year-old was very clingy after lockdown and has never left my side. The nursery worked so well in supporting us in the transition of starting nursery. The activities and care provided are outstanding.

I am a mum to 2 boys who both attend the Acorn Day Nursery. My experience has been very positive. The staff are very experienced and professional. My boys are adopted so the staff knew exactly how to behave with them and management was always happy to liaise with my social workers and attend any meetings and submit any reports that were needed. This nursery definitely gets 10/10 from me.

My son absolutely loves it and has come on tremendously since being there. The facilities are amazing and so are the staff. I feel very happy and confident sending my son there and I don’t have one bad word to say.

My daughter and son go to this nursery, really happy with the way everything is kept there, all the staff are lovely and pleasant people. My kids learned so much stuff there, thank you to all the lovely staff for your love and guidance towards my kids.

My daughter has very recently moved to Acorn and the difference we are already seeing in her is amazing. I can see how attentive the staff are to my daughter as they have picked up on her habits in such a short space of time. My daughter is happier in herself and there are no more tears going into nursery which makes my day as a parent less stressful. I also think it’s important to mention the admin staff behind the scenes. Enrolling and arranging my daughter’s settling-in sessions was so easy and every question I’ve had has been answered always with a welcoming and friendly response. I can firmly say moving my daughter to Acorn was the best decision we made and only wish we had done it sooner!

I can highly recommend this nursery. From the very beginning, my son quickly developed close bonds with the practitioners and it’s lovely to see them genuinely take interest in getting to know him as an individual. My son absolutely loves taking part in the forest school sessions and being taken out for walks in the local area. The staff put up posts via an online app every day about what he’s been doing in nursery and lots of photos which is very reassuring. My son has really grown in confidence especially when it comes to social interactions and self-care and I feel this nursery has given him a solid foundation ready for starting school in September, all thanks to the wonderful staff!

My little girl has been attending Acorn YMCA for 9 months. The care and attention she has received has been absolutely amazing and I couldn’t be happier. She has grown and developed into such a confident, funny and outgoing little girl and I know that’s a lot to do with the girls in her room. I love the fact that I can drop her off in the mornings and I know she’ll have the best time during the day; having lots of fun and having enriching experiences. The Acorn room staff are absolutely brilliant and my little girl has developed such a close relationship with each of them which is lovely to see, they are always so kind and welcoming. They always keep me updated with observations in the app as well as telling me what she’s been up to when I come and pick her up which I love hearing about. I cannot recommend the nursery enough and have told all my friends and family as they can see first-hand how far my daughter has come in such a short space of time.

I have just returned to work from maternity leave so my one year old is at this nursery. Prior to this my 5-year-old attended before starting school. I have nothing but positive feedback to give to this nursery. My eldest son has additional needs and they went above and beyond to help meet his needs including providing a one to one support. My youngest child has a head condition and they completed all relevant risk assessments and communicate with me when required in regard to this above and beyond the usual communication you would have with a nursery. My son’s key person is absolutely wonderful and knows both of my children and I couldn’t recommend her any more if I tried. The new nursery manager is a breath of fresh air and quite clearly very knowledgeable in her field. I am confident that my son is in an environment where he will be safe and thrive. The teams work well together and are very friendly. I am rest assured I can work knowing my son is in very good hands.
