As a ‘lockdown baby’, I was concerned that she would struggle to settle in, but she has truly grown in self‑assurance and her speech and updates, in particular, has improved hugely.

The team clearly care deeply about the kids, and I adore the positive relationships that my kid has forged, particularly with her key worker. She’s consistently truly cheerful to see her! The team are truly flexible and accommodating; for example, we chose to use cloth nappies, and they’ve been truly open to using them even though it’s not what they usually use.

Mostly though, we adore how kid-led the childcare centre is – even the baby room. We’re encouraged to update the team with what we get up to so that can integrate it into their activities. It makes us sense like our kid is being respected, even as a baby, and it’s excellent that she has the freedom to explore and develop in the way that works for her. Our daughter has been at York Montessori since she was 10-months-old and she has blossomed.

The care they received was exceptional and catered to their individual interests. Team were able to go with whatever sparked the kids’s interests on any given day, working inclusively to assistance participation in everyday tasks and maximising independence. The Montessori curriculum was well-rounded, and celebrations to mark birthdays were consistently special. Team utilised the local setting well, for example, shopping trips to buy ingredients for cooking and baking, trips to the park to find frog spawn and the local woods to do forest school. The attention paid to social and emotional development has resulted in friendships formed in the childcare centre that has stood for the rest of time. We are sad to be leaving after 7 years, but the foundations Fulford Montessori gave our kids will last a lifetime! Both our kids attended Fulford Montessori childcare centre from being in the baby room at 1 until they graduated from pre-school.
