Bright Horizons East Barnet Day Nursery and Preschool

To the parents:
My child had been in this nursery for two years. And the manager is not a caring person. She did not help parents with payments and ignoring my emails during the lockdown. I was trying to pay the nursery every month by email and phones. She just totally ignored me for six months. Her behaviour already made me lose the universal credit which is about £3000 pounds because of her carelessness. She always tried to explain the matter was not her fault. Do not send your child to this nursery. Totally unhelpful and try to avoid their responsibility. I would like to give 0 stars on this nursery!

Having had a bumpy ride with the nursery opening and closing due to staffing difficulties, I am really pleased with the outcome. I have two children at the nursery and while with any change there are going to be teething problems, the team are open to working with us, as the parents to provide the best and most seamless care possible for the children. I will admit I had concerns regarding the educational activities, but this has all been greatly improved in my opinion and I am happy with the planned activities moving forward. As with anything, there is always room for improvement and I feel that a little more communication on the app would be wonderful, however, it is understandable that this will take time. Overall, since the change (which I feel completed an already good but understaffed unit) this is a great team that I’d be happy to recommend.

Absolutely, love this nursery, as does my son. Always feel welcomed and well informed. My son looks forward to coming here. Highly recommend to everyone. He likes the food and loves his teachers. He sleeps well here and always tells me about the fun he has.

Despite all the recent changes in the nursery, the team have been nothing but wonderful with us. We have recently been receiving lots more communication via the nursery’s family app and they have also just had a garden refurb. No task is too big or too small and the management team are always so accommodating. My little one loves attending and talks so much about their day, at home.

From our own personal perspective the kids are thoroughly enjoying themselves and above that, each and every single staff member we interact with, including the manager and all the staff that work in both the pre-school room and toddler room, have been great. The programmes and activities, they have put in place, have been great for the kids and the fact our eldest, in particular, talks about it during the week, really shows how much they are enjoying themselves. Secondly, the updates we are getting, face to face and via the app has been great for us too. Just a special mention to the manager, who has really made us feel at ease following the changes. Approachable, keeps us informed, welcoming but also has really put things in place at the nursery, that keep the kids engaged (along with others)!

My daughter has blossomed and developed so much since starting at East Barnet, Bright Horizons in March/April 2021. Even though the nursery closed for a few months to recruit substantive staff. Her transition to another Bright Horizons nursery, was handled really well and staff moved with her to support the transition. This was further planned when we moved back and my daughter absolutely loves being at nursery! I love the use of the app and all the feedback and pictures sent! The team are fantastic and I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and care for my daughter!

We started both of our children at Bright Horizons, East Barnet from the age of 2 years old. We’ve always found the staff to be friendly, caring and helpful and our children have really enjoyed their time at nursery.

The staff are all fantastic, so enthusiastic, responsive and build fantastic connections with the children. It’s so clear they love what they do and every week plan a range of amazing activities for the children, teaching them about a variety of topics, engaging their interest and curiosity and keeping it fun at the same time! The kids are always talking about what they did when they come home and are happy to go in each morning. Appreciated, there have been a few rocky moments over the last year, ultimately out of the control of the staff at East Barnet and they’ve dealt fantastically with whatever has been thrown their way and it’s been clearly demonstrated that they will always do their best with the children’s best interests at heart. Look forward to the summer months and enjoying the new garden! Well done, East Barnet. Keep doing what you do.

Very happy with East Barnet Nursery! Our daughter has been there for two and a half years and is very happy at the end of each day and loves to tell us about all the fun they had. During these challenging times and recent refurbishment, the team always tried only the best for the children, coming up with lots of new activities and the introduction of the family app is a great bonus to see what our kids do and eat throughout the day! I would highly recommend this nursery and the team who work there!

My son started at the nursery in August 2019 – settling in for babies was extensive and we were happy with the nursery until spring 2021 (in between there was a 6-month gap whilst closed during Covid).
Things went downhill after that with significant staff turnover and quite a bit of disruption for the children. Ultimately this ended with the closure of the nursery in August 2021 for which we were given less than 1 week’s notice to find alternative full-time childcare. Clearly a very stressful experience for all involved including my son.
Other reviews suggest that new staff have been recruited and the nursery is back up and running, but for us, the lasting impression of a complete lack of consideration for working families and children means we would not recommend Bright Horizons.

Even with the recent closure, the staff worked hard to arrange alternative provision (which was also excellent) and to facilitate the children’s return, so that they could settle back as well as possible. Our child loves going to see their friends there and getting to play with all the different toys/do the different activities each day. The new app has been really handy for keeping up-to-date with the daily activities and the staff always makes sure to keep us in the loop at collection. Overall, I’d strongly recommend the nursery and the friendly team.

I can’t sing the praises of this nursery enough. All the staff in each room are hugely supportive of the kids and families. They really care about the kids and really focus on their development and how to help them progress. I would highly recommend this nursery.

East Barnet, Bright Horizons has been nothing short of amazing and accommodating. They meet my child’s needs in all aspects of the early years curriculum and health and safety, providing catered care to my child’s needs, well thought out activities, delicious balanced diet and an outstanding amount of activities, keeping my child busy and engaged as well as meeting their learning and development needs. The staff here are so friendly and are all well suited to their roles. Thank you, East Barnet, for giving me peace of mind that my child is in safe and intelligent hands. Staff are always extremely welcoming on arrival. They always greet my granddaughter by her name as they do all the other children. It is lovely to see the care they have for the children but the care, time and support given to parents and carers of the children is lovely. I trust that my granddaughter is in safe hands and is getting the best start in life. On pick up, I am always given a detailed run down of her day, which is lovely to be made a part of.

I’m really happy with East Barnet Bright Horizons, they are a fantastic team. My daughter always looks forward to going, and I can see the staff genuinely care for her. It’s lovely to hear about the activities she takes part in. We couldn’t be happier!

We could not be more grateful for all the staff at Bright Horizons, East Barnet. They have done so much to support our son and have developed the most wonderful bonds with him, which is so lovely to see. The activities are really well thought out and relevant to things going on in the world, for example international space week using moon, sand and light up pebbles as well as Christmas themed activities involving tree decorating and sensory play with ice and cornflour with the arctic animals. Communication between staff and parents is exceptional and any queries are responded to very quickly. We love how involved the nursery is with the community and how they encourage the children to participate with donating food to the local food bank and raising money for charitable causes. We had our first parents evening this month which included wine and cheese! This was much appreciated after a long day at work and another thoughtful gesture from members of staff.

East Barnet nursery is fantastic, they do an amazing job looking after my son. They are caring, supportive and fun, everything you want for your child to grow and develop. The nursery facilities are great, the garden is wonderful with lots of stimulation and toys for the children to enjoy. Management have also made a huge effort in 2022 to decorate all of the rooms and to hold extra activities for parents and children. Thank you for taking such care in what you do, it makes me feel happy about leaving my child in your care when I’ve got a busy job.
