September 1, 2015 at 12:00 amThis is a true gem of a nursery.
When we found Matilda nursery our family was bruised due to a previous very negative childcare experience. As a result of this experience, my little boy, 3yrs old, was very anxious and his confidence had hit rock bottom (as had mine!). At his previous nursery my happy, confident little boy had turned into an anxious, teary and frightened little soul, it was heartbreaking to watch. He developed a stutter, would not settle to sleep and had difficulties staying dry in the day.
On our first day at Matilda my son and I were both very anxious and teary but the staff was fantastic in dealing with us. The manager confidently but gently took the lead of the settling in process, giving plenty of cuddles and gentle reassurance to both son and mum! I was peaking through the window (too anxious to leave the building) and saw my scared little boy being cuddled and reassured by each and everyone of the staff.
The next day, although still anxious he was much calmer, surprisingly so actually – it was me that was more anxious this time. Again, the Manager stepped in and in her gentle but assertive manner asked me to leave my son there for a couple of hours. She called me 5 min later (I was pretty much hiding in the bushes outside) so that I could hear him playing and laughing with his new found friends, which was a very thoughtful thing to do. Since that day, we have never looked back.
My son now happily runs in through the door in the morning, with a cheery “good morning” and all the staff greet him and the other children so warmly. I must also mention that he was dry within two days (!) and his stutter is gone now too. He has got his confidence back and is once again the happy, loving inquisitive child we always see at home.
The setting itself is lovely, the building is newly decorated and a separate room for sleeping.
It is a calm, happy nursery, filled with engaging and age appropriate toys. They have a lovely garden too, a rarity in the city of London! It is a culturally diverse nursery, with both staff and children from a variety of backgrounds. This was a very important factor for our family when deciding on a nursery setting and Matilda has really provided us with the multicultural, inclusive and welcoming environment that we so desperately needed.
Let me finish this long review with a special mention of the staff as they really deserve all the praise that they can get. As all parents know, dedicated staff makes all the difference when it comes to the well being of our children.
Well, it doesn’t get any better than the girls at Matilda, they are excellent. I cannot find enough words to explain the difference these girls have made to our lives. To have our happy, bouncy little boy back means everything to us as parents and we have the girls at Matilda to thank for that. If you are lucky enough to get a space at this lovely place, grab it. You and your little ones will be so grateful that you did.

January 26, 2016 at 12:00 amMatilda is a lovely small community nursery.
We were surprised at how quickly our daughter has settled into the nursery. The staff appear to be very attentive to the children’s needs (for example our daughter had 2-3 wee accidents a day in her old nursery but was dry (like at home) as soon as she started with Matilda).
I really like how the parents are invited to get involved and make suggestions. The staff have always been very responsive to any queries that I have raised.
There is a lovely outdoor space and they take the children on trips out. They also have classes for the children such as music and Yoga.
I’m really pleased that we made the move to Matilda nursery and would definitely recommend parents consider it.

February 8, 2016 at 12:00 amOur two year old daughter likes the nursery. It’s in a very quiet and secure spot in a court yard of a block of flats. It has it’s own garden and a playground shared with the public. The staff are friendly and professional. It’s small and intimate with only 14-15 children at any time. Our daughter likes the yoga lessons and likes seeing her friends from the neighbourhood there.

February 12, 2016 at 12:00 amMatilda day nursery is a fantastic nursery which is very supportive of the children and parents.
My son loves going to nursery and has learnt so much in terms of communicating, toilet training, playing, singing and dancing.
Parents are always kept informed of what is happening and what has been planned and are encouraged to have a say in what is going on.
The staff are very friendly and the fees are also very reasonable.
