Job Description

We are looking for a superstar leader to work alongside our Nursery Manager to be the nursery Junior Deputy Manager.

Key Responsibilities: 

- To oversee the efficient and safe running of the nurseries and support the Room Leaders ensuring they too are managing their Base Rooms appropriately.
- To provide guidance and leadership to other members of the team particularly with planning, welfare of children, safeguarding, health and safety and team work.
- To assist in co-ordinating rotas, deployment, lunches etc whilst maintaining staff:child ratios at all times.
- To undertake objective setting, annual appraisals and termly reviews in conjunction with the Nursery Manager.
- To provide coaching, supervision and career guidance and advice to team members.
- To contribute to the induction process for new and promoted staff.
- To contribute to the settling-in process for new and transition children.
- To develop strong partnerships with parents, colleagues, children and external support services.
- To develop plans for base room and Nursery, staying abreast of changes in legislation and best practice.
- To assist in the day to day operational running the Nursery whilst maintaining a strong focus on childcare in own base room – manages effectively the Nursery in the Nursery Manager’s absence.

Self-Management:

- Attends training courses to further personal development.
- Performs any ad hoc duties as required.
- Actively contributes and participates as part of the team, attending team meetings and other events.
- Is mindful of personal safety and safety of colleagues.
- Assists the Nursery Manager with initiatives that directly benefit the Nursery

Skills, Knowledge, Experience:

Essential to role

- Minimum 2 years experience in childcare leadership such as Room Leader ot Third In Charge
- Minimum Level 3 or equivalent
- Relevant childcare qualifications in accordance with OFSTED guidelines
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation including EYFS
- Empathetic, caring and friendly

Desirable to role

- A higher Early Year’s qualification or willing to study a management or leadership qualification
- Full understanding and working knowledge of managing budgets, invoicing and payroll
- Experience of SEND
