November 6, 2019 at 12:00 amOur daughter has attended 1st Place at Lorrimore Square for almost 2 years now and we are extremely happy to have made this choice. The large space and facilities are great but the one thing that makes the biggest difference (and in my opinion makes this nursery an excellent place to send our child) is the quality and dedication of the staff. They are clearly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, attentive and caring. This is not only evidenced by our interactions with them but also the variety of activities they do with the children (trips, playtime etc). My conversations with other parents confirm this view. When both of us started to work full time we were a bit concerned about sending our daughter to nursery 50 hours per week – this concern quickly went away as she clearly loves it there!

November 22, 2019 at 12:00 amWe have loved sending our 1-2 year-old to Lorrimore Square. She really enjoys it, is very comfortable with all of the staff, especially her key worker and has developed really well. We have found Lorrimore to be very flexible and helpful when we’ve needed the extra cover unlike a lot of nearby nurseries. We’re both working parents so this has been a particular asset. The nursery is well laid out, has a good balance of outside to in, ample buggy parking and a sweet little play park directly next door for the spring/summer month post-pick-ups. It’s also really well placed for commuting into town. We have never regretted moving our daughter here and couldn’t recommend Lorrimore and its staff highly enough.

November 22, 2019 at 12:00 amMy daughter has been at this nursery since April 2019 and I cannot recommend it highly enough. She absolutely loves her days there and I feel she has really grown in confidence and developed great social skills since starting. The staff are warm and friendly and have developed a great relationship with my daughter. I always feel happy and confident leaving her there that she will have a great day doing all sorts of messy play, with lots of outdoor time etc. She also really enjoys the food they provide and has become a much less fussy eater since starting here, enjoying meals like fish, curry and lamb stew with vegetables. The staff are very easy to communicate with and always make an effort to let me know how my daughter’s day has been when I pick her up.

November 22, 2019 at 12:00 amThe carers at the nursery are the best asset you have. Congratulations to the amazing team as our child always looks happy when he goes in and leaves. The food is the main issue and I would suggest improvements for babies under one year old. Our baby started going to Lorrimore’s at 8 months and your menu includes tuna, spices, curry, etc. Curry is not recommended to be given until after 10 months. Fish is recommended to be introduced once the baby has reached its first year due to known allergic reactions. Thanks.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amThis is a fantastic nursery. Our daughter has been here since 2017 and we are SO pleased with the service. They provide a safe, supportive and stimulating environment. The staff are professional, skilled and fun. They take the children on trips and regularly visit local libraries etc. The food is healthy and well made. The staff turnover is low and all the staff have a great relationship with my child. I can not recommend this place enough.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amThis is a conveniently located nursery with a lovely, caring staff that take children’s development very seriously. I particularly like that children are allowed a lot of “free-flow” time outside, where they can play and explore independently. Compared to the nursery our children were at before, there seems to be less of a structured curriculum; learning occurs more organically (which might not be for everyone). Facilities are satisfactory (the building is old and there is not much daylight), but the team goes to great lengths to create a welcoming environment – lots of houseplants, wooden toys, books, scrap material for arts and crafts etc. The only thing I miss is fixed sleeping times, children are allowed to rest when they want, which does not work for our kids.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amNot happy with our child here but we have no other option. They don’t do any of the Early Years Foundation Stage, that is recommended by the government. Specifically, they do nothing on literacy nor mathematics/numeracy. Staff are regularly late, therefore, making me late for things. I’ve had to complain formally about this on 2 occasions. I’m on first-name terms with the manager. Security is lapse, there is a concrete playground out the back where all the kids play, this is easily accessible by anyone and leads to the main inside area which is regularly unlocked. Kids play climbing up ladders unattended above the concrete playground. They also have a blossom app but it’s rubbish and I never use it. It normally tells me my child arrived then left. The nursery always has a faint smell of wee. The only good thing is the Forest School. But staff are often late and it’s far from the nursery itself. So few kids go.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amMy daughter has just started at 1st Place at Lorrimore Square and she absolutely loves it. The induction period was very thorough to ensure it wasn’t traumatic, they are very caring and careful with babies emotions. Even though they take a very exploratory approach children are constantly supervised and parents are very well informed of their daily behaviour and development.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amAll the staff are extremely friendly to parents and caring and kind to the kids. I have never worried about leaving my child at nursery. The staff are very understanding and supportive when kids go through difficult phases (biting in our case) and come up with ideas and solutions to overcome the issues. The move up to the bigger kids room helped a lot to improve the situation.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amThe best nursery our daughter has been attending, she absolutely loves it and so do we. Staff are extremely dedicated and knowledgable and I feel happy leaving her in their expert hands, knowing that she is safe and develops there. Great attention to detail, from children’s behaviours and specificities to food and activities.

November 27, 2019 at 12:00 amThe staff at 1st Place Lorrimore Square have been amazing. Not only are they extremely kind, supportive, and nurturing, but they’re also very engaged with our daughter and helping encourage her development in reading, writing, and counting. The Lorrimore Square team also ensures there’s great communication back and forth with the parents, via daily updates with the app, quarterly parents meetings, and whenever my wife pick-up/drop-off our child there’s always a little bit of chat re: what they’ve been doing and how our daughter’s been. We are extremely lucky to have our daughter at such a fantastic nursery; we would recommend Lorrimore Square in a heartbeat!

December 5, 2019 at 12:00 amWe are so pleased with our experience of 1st Place at Lorrimore Square. Our daughter absolutely loves attending and has developed so much since joining at the age of one. The staff are incredibly friendly, engaged and knowledgable. They know all the children and are always looking for ways to interact and support them. Every child I see is engaged, motivated and happy. The forest school is a particular highlight, which I believe sets 1st Place above many other nurseries, offering the children a unique opportunity to spend time exploring and learning about nature. We couldn’t be happier.

December 11, 2019 at 12:00 amMy four-year-old son and one-year-old daughter love Lorrimore Square Nursery.
The staff, children and parents make are a very kind caring community. We love the location – away from busy polluted roads, good space to run around and stay fit and a little park nearby in warmer weather is full of parents and children enjoying getting to know each other and looking after each other.
The nursery uses the Italian Reggio Emilia approach of learning philosophy which involves child-directed exploring through areas of interest for the child – this involves a commitment from parents to share what their children are interested in at home so the staff can explore this with the child and make links to other discoveries and interests.
The nursery manager is extremely passionate about Forest School, attentive to the children’s needs and observant.
We really trust and value the staff and appreciate the dedication of the team to forest school and genuinely caring for our children.

February 12, 2021 at 12:00 amTo maintain a high standard during a difficult 2020 undoubtedly explains it all.
Our son enjoys going to nursery, we appreciate the child self-learning approach. Our son loves playing with his nursery friends, enjoys exploring all environments around him, not shy to strange places, we can see the desire for learning from him which is just amazing and we are really proud of him.
He is currently homeschooling due to the pandemic but misses his school a lot, we look forward to seeing him playing in nursery in the near future.
We cannot thank 1st Place at Lorrimore Square enough for providing such an amazing environment.

February 23, 2021 at 12:00 amThe nursery and the staff are amazing. I see a great improvement in my child’s speaking and interactions with people and kids and play. I love that there is art incorporated with everyday life objects and overall the safety of how they conduct themselves and the different rooms with dealing with Covid-19.
The only issue I have currently is getting to the nursery as Highways have closed off the road to buses and cyclists only even though it’s a very large road and it adds 24 minutes go and back every day to dropping off my child. It makes it very inconvenient for parents travelling from Elephant and Castle, Borough and London Bridge.

February 23, 2021 at 12:00 amLorrimore Square is an excellent nursery. Our daughter has attended from 18 months to four-years-old and has thrived there. The facilities are adequate and the staff are excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

March 4, 2021 at 12:00 amMy daughter started at 1st Place Lorrimore Square in August 2020, she was just six months. We have seen what a difference attending nursery made to her development. She progressed so quickly and is very curious about the world around her and is a very sociable baby. She is always very busy during the day, does lots of different activities, explores, eats all the food presented to her. I feel the staff at Lorrimore really care about the children, the report we get at the end of each day is great, the pictures they upload give us a great idea of the variety of activities they are doing with the children. If they have concerns, they will call. They always have time for the parents as well which I think is very important. I am very satisfied. I leave my daughter in the morning knowing she is in safe hands, with people who genuinely care about her. I highly recommend this nursery.

March 4, 2021 at 12:00 amOur daughter loves attending this nursery, she talks about her friends, teachers and the activities she does with lots of joy.
We enjoy and appreciate the daily update of our daughter with photos and descriptions of what she did on that particular day.

March 3, 2022 at 12:00 amWe really love 1st Place. Our daughter started in January 2022 and the staff have been beyond great. The food they get is healthy and they have a wonderful learning environment. She is always happy to go in and we are always relaxed knowing she is being well taken care of.

April 26, 2023 at 12:00 amWe have been with 1st Place at Lorrimore Square for a little over a year now and my daughter loves it. A good nursery where the children explore and learn through play. The nursery undergoes lots of activities for the children, which my daughter found engaging and fun. Overall I have been happy with my daughter’s time there but unfortunately, we are moving and have to leave.
